Capitalism has created a world where a few people hoard trillions of dollars but the majority of us struggle to afford healthcare, housing, and food. Workers deserve more than scraps from their table. As a democratic socialist, I believe the only way to achieve a world where the working class, not billionaires, has control over our government and economy is by building a mass movement to organize together. I am committed to using my office to help make this happen. We can take our wealth and power back by building better unions, organizing our neighbors, and creating bottom-up democracy. Together, we can take on DTE, insurance companies, and AI data centers.
My political home is the Democratic Socialists of America, the largest socialist organization that has existed in the US within the last century, with more than 120,000 members. Alongside my local chapter, Metro Detroit DSA, and fellow members Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and Westland City Council President Mike McDermott, we’ve organized to:
Collect signatures for the Mop Up Michigan statewide ballot initiative campaign to get corporate money out of politics by banning corporations like DTE from donating to candidates.
End the city of Westland’s use of Flock’s Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras for mass surveillance.
Launch a public donation drive in response to the government shutdown and SNAP benefit suspension, to funnel donations to local food pantries.
Help tenants in an Inkster apartment complex fight back against their landlord, getting the landlords on a federal improvement plan to force them to improve conditions.
Interested in organizing with us? A group of Garden City, Inkster, Romulus, and Westland residents meets every two weeks. We’d love for you to join us by filling out this form.
